While poverty dropped slightly, Philly is still the poorest of the nation's 10 largest cities. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, 9,000 residents moved out of poverty, which lowered the percentage of poor residents to 26.3 percent from 26.9 percent. The childhood poverty rate dropped from 39.3 percent in 2011 to 36.1 percent in 2013. Camden City is the poorest of all U.S. cities. But we have more work to do. [Philly.com]
