Steampunk Rental (With Pulley!) in Former Hoop Skirt Factory

New, 1 comment

Put on your bowler hat and spats to tour this Old City loft with a non-functioning hand-pulley elevator, random-width pine floors and exposed brick and beams (but don't panic—there's Internet). The Hoopskirt Lofts building was constructed in 1875 as a petticoat factory—you know, before women were allowed to have bodies. It was rehabbed in the 1970s, when women were not only allowed to have bodies, they did the Hustle with them.

This two-bedroom unit is only $2,500 a month, which is pretty good for the area. And it's on Arch Street, so it's far enough from the New Jersey sturm und drang of Old City weekends that have made life intolerable for many optimistic loft residents. Plus, the space is flooded with a heavenly, lo-res light (ahem).
