Ooh boy, there's a battle royale going on over the more than 3,000 murals in Philly that grace city walls courtesy of the Mural Arts Program (MAP). The Daily News confessed it was "muraled out," and Dan McQuade, writing for Philly Post, asked why the murals had to be "so ugly." Victor Fiorillo, also of the Post, asks why Jane Golden's "exalted program is under attack." And then there was a DN editorial suggesting Golden's funding was out of hand. On PhiladelphiaSpeaks, a member pointed out the latest mural: one Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman) helped create. No comment on the, uh, artistic merits of that one. [PhillyPost; Curbedwire]
