Welcome to Racked Philly, where we'll report on retail and fashion comings and goings around town. See a store open, close, or otherwise claim your attention? Hit the tipline, and we'll get right on it.
Hide your sweatpants and Ugg boots: Scott Schuman of street style blog The Sartorialist is coming to Philly for a free book signing!
Scott Schuman, street style aficionado/photog behind the popular blog The Sartorialist, will be in Philly for a special book signing on Saturday, October 13, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Hosted by The Barnes Foundation, the book signing will promote the blogger's newest work, The Sartorialist: Closer, in which 40 snapshots capture the unique style of people more fashionable than you, from all across the globe. Schuman will be accompanied by similarly-accoladed fashion photographer Garance Dore during the free signing. The event will mark Schuman's first visit to our fine city, so let's make a good first impression and retire the sweats for the day, even if we are just running out to Wawa real quick.
A little closer on the calendar, Manayunk's Three Potato Four is hosting a Barn Sale this Saturday and Sunday, October 6th and 7th, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Housing an extensive collection of antiques and found objects, the textile mill-turned shopping destination opened in 2010. As for highlights from this weekend's sale, store co-owner Stu Eli tells us to be on the lookout for tons of new inventory, from crates, wire baskets, and globes, to stools, lighting, signage, and boy scout- and camp-related items. Eli also recommends perusing Three Potato Four's Originals line, exclusive to the Manayunk shop. His pick: the Pennsylvania-made Liberty Bell Linen Wall Hanging.
