Tonight: Fete Fishtown-Made Men's Jeans at Art in the Age

Welcome to Racked Philly, where we'll report on retail and fashion comings and goings around town. See a store open, close, or otherwise claim your attention? Hit the tipline, and we'll get right on it.

Handmade in Fishtown, Norman Porter Company has collaborated with Old City boutique Art in the Age to create a limited-edition run of men's jeans.

Stop by Old City tonight to fete the new collaboration of men's jeans from Art in the Age and local denim maker Norman Porter Company. The Old City boutique commissioned the Fishtown-based company to create an exclusive ten-pair collection of men's denim, which will officially be released tonight during a party at AITA from 6pm-8pm.

Each pair will set you back $200, but these aren't your run-of-the-mill jeans. Norman Porter follows a "less is more" approach to denim-making with minimal details; the not-too-skinny jeans are handcrafted from Japanese selvage denim, cut straight from the roll without any fabric treatments or crazy embellishments. For the collaboration, Art in the Age selected denim with a 14-ounce weight, and each pair features black duck twill pocket lining and a leather patch hand-stamped with the Art in the Age logo. Further sweetening the deal, tonight's bash will give party-goers a peek into the denim construction process, as every pair of jeans purchased will be finished by hand during the event. Norman Porter's collection of small-batch leather accessories and canvas bags will also be available for purchase, and the party will offer complimentary beer from PA's own South County Brewing Company.
