Drum Roll, Please ... and the Answer Is 20th and Chestnut!

Cornerspotter is a Curbed Philly feature in which we show you a historical photo of the city and you tell us where the photo was taken. The prize? Your name here along with our promise to spot you for a soft pretzel. Send your guesses to our tipline: philly@curbed.com

The winner of this week's Curbed Philly Cornerspotter contest is Kevin McMahon, who wrote, "That would be the Stephen Girard Hotel at 20th and Chestnut, now the Freire Charter School."

McMahon studied architecture in college and finished grad school here in Philly last May. He now works in historic preservation in Center City so he naturally pays attention to details. It was the arched windows on the front of the building that tipped him off. "Too bad that great house isn't there next door anymore," he says.

Others wrote in to also say that prior to Freire, the building was a YMCA. Incorrect guesses included 12th and Market and Eighth and Pine.

So far, we haven't been able to stump you, Cornerspotters, but next week, it's on.
