The Friends of the Boyd have not given up on their dream of having the historic movie theater restored to good use, even after Clear Channel backed out from the project and the theater's subsequent patron, Hal Wheeler, passed away. Though the building is protected from demolition now, it sits empty and unused. Last week After the Final Curtain's Matt Lambros, reverent chronicler of abandoned interiors, spoke with the Friends' chair, Howard Haas about the future of the Boyd. Which now provides us with a great excuse to run many photos of the majestic theater—past and present.
