Jenkintown is a lovely little town that people in Philly sometimes forget about when they start looking for houses. Public transportation to downtown Center City is great. People know each other, they say hello at the pretty library, they help each other shovel snow and carry groceries. There are pajama parties for the little ones, and film fests at the Hiway Theater. There's even a reasonably well known trip-hop DJ who plays random Sunday nights at a local bar. And now, too, there's this affordable house of 2,574 square feet with six bedrooms, two and half baths, a covered front porch and many details that compel people to pay twice that in University City or Swarthmore. It's true that it doesn't have the latest everything: Central air is only on the first floor, for instance, and there seems to be an unfortunate carpet situation in the dining room.
