Backsplash Fatigue

New, 3 comments

It's hard to believe how often "tile backsplash" is used as a selling point. In fact, the reality of most tile backsplashes—especially in new properties that are being rented or sold for the first time—can best be described this way: There's a wall behind the sink, and we pasted some tiles onto it. Installing a tile backsplash is easy, which seems to put a cramp in creativity. The gallery above of kitchens from different apartments on Craigslist demonstrates the banality of the medium, and we could have provided you with hundreds exactly like them. Listen, unless a backsplash is as impressive as a Byzantine mosaic or is some serious Alhambra shit (click here), it's probably not worth mentioning.
