SLOGAN'S RUN—Atlantic City's slogan used to be "Always Turned On," which never really took off. The new one? "Do AC." We can already imagine the copy editors slugging it out: Is it AC or A.C.? Robert Griffin, Casino Association of NJ president, thinks it's a good phrase. "It's a call-to-action statement, which I like," he told the AP. [HuffPo]
JEFF, WHO LIVES IN AC—No, Jeff, don't go! The unfailingly friendly Jeff Guaracino, late of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp., is moving on to the Atlantic City Alliance, the nonprofit launched by Gov. Christie to reinvigorate the image of the city. Jeff will be the chief strategy and communications officer of the Alliance. [PBJ]
REVEL'S IN IT—Revel—the new hotel/casino/Jose Garces outpost—opened for its eight-week preview prior to its real opening with Beyoncé. No doubt Jeff Guaracino is going to be hyping Revel heavily for his new job, since it supposedly represents a shift away from venues purely focused on gaming. “This is like ‘Wow,’” Pleasantville resident Carmen Rivera told the Press of Atlantic City. “You can tell it’s going to have a lot of nightlife, definitely.” [Press of AC]
AND JUST IN TIME—According to the Division of Gaming Enforcement, the profits of the 11 casinos in operation in AC in 2011 dropped by 7.4 percent compared to 2010. But no pressure, Revel. Just enjoy yourself. [NorthJersey.com]
