Tomorrow, in the wake of Laugh Gate, Anna Wintour flees New York and comes to Philadelphia where she can grimly host Fashioning Philadelphia Runway Show*.
The show is a fundraiser for an ongoing exhibit at the Museum of Elfreth's Alley which showcases designs of the colonial era. Think: the colonial versions of Christian Louboutins (red cobblestone bottoms?); Miuccia Prada petticoats; Luke Song mob caps; sexy stays à la Chantal Thomass. Who were these designers? What were their names? Well, we may never know. The important thing is that Drexel design students are using historical texts—like Lady Worsley's Whim, sort of the Scandal of its day—to create period clothing like the above.
