Al Gardner doesn't explicitly state that he wants his new radio station, IQ106.9 FM, to challenge the pinko-commie hipster ethos that's descended on Fishtown. But since the station prominently features Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck—not known for their hipster appeal—one could assume Gardner is courting a different demographic. The offices are in an abandoned power plant near Penn Treaty Park, and Gardner lunches at Johnny Brenda's. He's quite committed to the neighborhood. "We are Philly’s news, all local, out of Fishtown ... When I’m gone, I want to leave something for society, for Philadelphia. This is just a bunch of guys in Fishtown who give a crap.” [Northeast Times]
