Filed under: Comment of the Day By Liz Spikol Jun 12, 2012, 6:06pm EDT In defense of all the Philly-hating Philadelphians: unlike what transplants or out of town CEO's have seen, native Philadelphians have experienced a city decline to 'near death' over the course of a few short decades. It is only recently that the city has reinvented itself and rebounded to become an attractive market for companies like Uber (and we still have a ways to go). Uber's CEO rattles off favorable comparisons to cities like SF & NYC. But there's something still lacking here vs those places: money. Philly's population may be double SF, but there are 30k more millionaires in SF than here. Per capita that is a massive difference. And don't even get me started on NYC. Not ranting against Uber, just justifying the Philly attitude a bit.—guest #10 [Uber Launches in Philly TODAY, Though We Have No Idea Why]
