Somewhat Odd But "Why Not?" City Initiative

If you comb city forums, neighborhood bulletin boards, SeeClickFix and other places where residents vent their spleen, you'll see plenty of complaints about abandoned cars or trucks. What you won't see are complaints about abandoned bikes, yet we've all seen them ourselves—bikes that languish at the bottom of a street sign for months, increasingly denuded of all but the frame. Now the Mayor's Office of Transportation and Utilities announces the Abandoned Bike Clean-Up project. If you see a bike that's been locked somewhere for a month or more, call 311 and report the details so the city can retrieve it and open up the space for other bicyclists to use. [MOTU]
