Urban Outfitters: Owls Out, Cats In?

Philadelphia's Urban Outfitters has always been a trendsetting company, and even before everyone was putting a bird on it, UO was selling owl-related decor as if The National Owl Foundation was giving them kickbacks. But we've noticed a certain shift in their home department: fewer owls—fewer birds in general—and more cats. It's a little bit sad, if you think about it: The cats are devouring the birds. New arrivals at UO include a cat doormat; a cat toothbrush holder; a jungle cat rug; a rainbow cat poster; and a cat clothing hanger. Only one of the new arrivals is owl-related, and it's something for you to step on. As for the sale section, it's a bird massacre. Is it over for the birds? Calling Jonathan Franzen!
