That's what this graphic suggests, but Philadelphia has been grappling with the notion of taxing and/or penalizing sugar soda, at least, for quite some time. Atlantic Cities makes the case, though, that Mayor Bloomberg's smoking ban in restaurants and workplaces opened the door for other cities to follow suit, including Philadelphia. Ditto with a ban on trans fat: NYC went first, Philly followed. But breaking down the history even further, Eric Jaffe concludes the city most likely to go without those huge sugar sodas first, even before Philly, will be Seattle. Looks like the movie theaters just got a reprieve.
