Filed under: Louis Kahn Comment of the Day By Liz Spikol Jul 11, 2012, 1:00pm EDT There are actually something like six houses designed by Kahn in the Philly area. The three built before WWII are generally ignored, and the three built after are the ones that get talked about when people talk about Kahn's residential architecture. They are the Esherick, Fisher and Korman houses. The Korman house, in Ft Washington is a mansion and generally consider the least important of the three (not sure why). The Fisher house was the product of a design process which lasted something like seven years, and the end result is extremely refined, with every aspect carefully thought out. The Esherick house is still on the market because they're asking $1.5 million for it. It's a spectacular design, with a kitchen by Wharton Esherick, but it's still only a one bedroom house. —guest #2 [Louis Kahn's Fisher House Officially on the Market (UPDATED)]
