Rizzo Remains Polarizing Figure

New, 2 comments

Former mayor and police commish Frank Rizzo still engenders heated debate, which we know because the Rizzo mural in the Italian Market was vandalized this weekend. Black paint was thrown on his face and the word "fascista"—which refers to Italians who worked on the side of Mussolini—was written on the wall. Facebook comments in response to the story about the vandalism demonstrate how the topic remains polarizing. From "It will take more then paint to get rid of Frank Rizzo's memory. he was a great man, to "Many thanks from the bottom of my heart to whoever did this! Under Rizzo, countless Philadelphians were beaten and killed by the police..." [NBC 10]
