This winter, hit the slopes in new gear from Burton and Marmot—both brands now have locations within the King of Prussia Mall. What's more, we've received word that a certain flame-haired Olympic boarder will be making a special guest appearance at the mall next month.
Joining a lineup of over 400 retailers, Burton, Marmot, and Athleta are the most recent additions to the King of Prussia Mall. In partnership with Buckman's, a Philly area-based ski and snowboard shop with six stores across the area, Burton opened earlier in September, marking the brand's eighth stand-alone location in the U.S. The store occupies a space within the Plaza, on the ground floor near Rite Aid, with architectural details intended to transport shoppers to Vermont, the brand's homebase. Think: a wooden facade, plus shelving, tables, and fixtures custom-made in Vermont. Shoppers will find a wide range of products from Burton's 2013 collection, along with offerings from Analog, Gravis, Anon, and RED. P.S. Rumor has it that Shaun White will be making a special appearance at the King of Prussia Burton store on Friday, October 13. Check the KOP Burton Facebook page for updates.
Neighboring Burton on the mall's ground floor, Marmot opened in early September. The store marks the sixth national stand-alone location from the outdoor gear retailer. Rounding out the trio of new stores, Athleta, Gap Inc.'s athletic apparel label, opened in mid-September and is located upstairs in the Plaza, near the Cafe Court. The King of Prussia store is our area's second Athleta location; a Walnut Street store opened in late 2011. And there's good news for those who eschew exercise but still want to look fit: Spanx will unveil its third stand-alone store in mid-October, offering men's and women's shapewear, plus women's swimwear and activewear. The new store will take up residence on the second floor of the Plaza.
Here's the inside scoop on store expansions: Forever 21 and Apple are slated to relocate and will increase their square footage twofold. Forever 21 will take over a whopping 38,000 square feet with its trendy, designer-inspired apparel, while Apple will expand to almost 10,000 square feet. Currently under construction, H&M is scheduled to unveil its new, expanded location by the mall's Rite Aid entrance by late November. Stay tuned to the King of Prussia Mall Facebook page for more info as it comes.
