Eyeball-Melting Penthouse Is for Sale Again—With a New Look

When we wrote about the penthouse at 101 Walnut Street in June ("This Penthouse With Private Pool Will Melt Your Eyeballs"), it was listed by Prudential as a rental after failing to sell at $3.9 million. (The rental price was $14,500 per month.) Now the penthouse is listed for sale again, this time under the banner of Kurfiss Sotheby's International. Price? $3,495,000.

The photos have changed—going from day to night—as has some of the artwork on the walls. The listing description is breathless, dramatic, intense: "ICONIC. RARE. JAW-DROPPING." Twice there's mention of the two "high-speed" elevators, which sounds vaguely terrifying. But there's no question the exclusive unit sports a plethora of phenomenal perks, like the wall of windows the owner slides open, the private pool with its kitchen area and flat-screen TV, motorized window coverings, whole-house audio and DVD, and a "virtual doorman," which should not be confused with this person.

If you like the more than $100,000 in Roche Bobois furnishings, you can buy it all or make it a part of the offer, as well as the Design Within Reach lighting and a Holly Hunt rug.

Size: 3 beds, 2.5 baths, 3,549 square feet
Extra: 8-year tax abatement.
Exclusivity: "There can only be ten owners at 101 Walnut. Will you be one of them?"
Price: $3,495,000
