Ortlieb's Brewery Finally Bites the Dust

New, 2 comments

Ortlieb's Brewery, the last vestige of Northern Liberties' industrial heyday, began demolition today. Though owner Bart Blatstein (the man behind the Piazza, and plans for The Provence) said that he tried to find a way to reuse the buildings, he decided that they were in such poor condition that they had to go.

Blatstein said that he plans to build residential space on the site, but had no further details other than to say that the plans are "a living thing" and that whatever will occupy the site will "contribute to the street's transformation into the nicest in the neighborhood."

Demolition should finish by the end of this year.
