Massive Fire Consumes Yet Another Kensington Warehouse

A three alarm fire raged yesterday afternoon in a refrigeration warehouse at the corner of American Street and Cecil B. Moore. The fire shut down American street for several blocks, but firefighters managed to contain it, and no one was hurt.

Neighbors say that the warehouse had been on the market for years, and that they had worried about it. This most recent fire, though far less damaging than the warehouse fire that killed two firefighters in April 2012, does highlight the need for close attention to the maintenance of Kensington's aging warehouse stock.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
