Death and Taxes

Homeowner taxes continue to be all the talk today, with Philly.com looking at who will be winners and losers with changes to the homestead exemption for resident owners (it forgives taxes up to $30,000). Sounds like a sweet deal? Maybe. "The exemption comes with an increase in the overall tax rate, which current estimates have moving from about 1.25 percent to about 1.4 percent if the exemption is kept." So watch out for that point where a new tax rate will cost you more than the exemption saves. [Philly.com]
