Two gentrification relief bills passed City Council yesterday, authorizing $3.8 billion to help those who might have a hard time paying their taxes under AVI. The first bill was designed to help out low-income, longtime residents of neighborhoods with skyrocketing property values, while the other bill allowed people whose tax bill was 2.5 times higher than their old bill to defer their taxes.
