New Kimmel Center Signage and Restaurant Needs Zoning Approval

The Kimmel Center is getting a new look this fall, to accommodate a new Garces restaurant that will occupy the spot where the gift shop used to be. The restaurant, called Volver, will have floor to ceiling windows and incorporate a champagne and caviar lounge. The redesign will also bring a more prominent entrance to the basement experimental theater known as the Innovation Studio. Though the redesign has already received approval from the Center City Residents Association (the group that was less than pleased with One Riverside's proximity to a community garden and the entrance to the Schuylkill River Park), it still needs zoning approval. The signage proposed for both the restaurant and the Innovation Studio exceeds current zoning limitations. However, given that that both the CCRA and the Art Commission have approved the plans, zoning approval seems likely.
