New, 28 comments

It's official! Norman Foster will design a 59 story tower for Comcast at 18th and Arch. The new tower will be the tallest building in Philly and the tallest building in the US outside of New York and Chicago.

The new tower will be 1,121 ft tall, a whole 146 feet taller than the existing Comcast Tower. Comcast will use the bottom 45 stories for office space, and the top fifteen stories will house the relocated Four Seasons Hotel.

Officials from Liberty Property Trust (the developer behind the new tower) say that the new building will be "in the spirit of a loft building" and will be made of steel and glass.

The new building will recieve $30M in financing from the state and $10M in financing from the city.
