Preservation Bill Proposed

It's odd that a Philadelphia landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places can still be left unprotected by local government if left off of the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. Councilman Jim Kenney is proposing to create a special committee that compares the two lists and to add "at least one thousand" historical, yet endangered, properties to the local registry. While it's not a catch-all, it's a start, right? [PlanPhilly, Photo: James Jennings]
