Philadelphia Police are looking for two kids who vandalized the brand-spankin' new Venice Island Park, causing upwards of $30,000 in damage to the property. The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 6. One of the kids is seen in surveillance video smashing up a few LED accent lights on the ground and then ripping out the rope lighting found in the handrail of the stairs. The other teen is just doing what kids do, only half paying attention to his friend destroying a beautiful new rec center while mainly texting another friend about it and potentially rolling a doobie, as seen around 1:08 in the video. Oh, the video, we have that, too.
As per Newsworks:
Police have released a video of the incident, because brand new $46M rec centers/utility sites tend to have surveillance cameras:
As for Venice Island, the wildly gorgeous performance $3.2M arts space designed by Buell Katzer and Powell recently debuted. Thank goodness these idiots didn't get inside to rough it up.
