The Interim Poker Room at SugarHouse Is Bathed in Underglow

The temporary poker room at the SugarHouse Casino just opened its doors on Nov. 1 — and guess what? It's got that new-car smell. Aside from the 24 new tables with table side food, beverage and massage service, the place looks like Fast and the Furious hooked up with one of those Facebook poker games, had a baby and completely decked out in black trim and lots and lots of blue underglow. Mind you, this is merely the interim poker room. Will the permanent one get the carbon fiber spoiler package?

According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, the $2.9M permanent poker room will feature 28 tables. It will be phase one of a $164M expansion for the casino that will also include "non-gaming amenities" like a restaurant and 30,000 square-foot event space. The casino "will result in $1 million to the Penn Treaty Special Services District for economic development in Fishtown and surrounding neighborhoods," according to PBJ's Francis Hilario.

For now, you can temporarily bask in the car show-like appeal of the interim poker room, which also features in-table mobile device charging stations compatible with iPhone or Android(Oooo), mobile app with a reservation system and alerts and even a snack bar.
