The FMC Tower Will Be Chock-Full of 268 AKA Residences

New, 7 comments

It seems like all of the talk around Philadelphia recently has revolved around big buildings and hotels. AKA, the luxurious extended stay brand with an outpost in Rittenhouse Square, has announced that they will be opening a second location at the FMC Tower at Cira Centre South. The 49-story tower, which will rise some 690 feet above the ground, will house 268 luxury units and extended stay executive suites. The initial release mentioned that the residences would be managed by Korman Communities. However, this is the first time we're hearing AKA's brand name associated with the property. But that's not all. On no, that's not all.

According to the release, the 28th floor of the FMC Tower is going to be ridiculous. We're talking way more than simply stunning views of the Art Museum, Schuylkill River and the skyline:

"impressive full-floor amenity space with business center, lounge, café, bar, golf simulator, two-tiered screening room, oversized lap pool with seating, fitness center, and an outdoor terrace with water features and fire pits" The website notes that the "oversized swimming pool" will actually be 73 feet, but who's counting? As for the rest of the project, the tower is set to be completed by spring of 2016 and contain 25,000 square-feet of ground floor retail, which will include a "quick casual deli, pub, coffee & pastry shop, and pharmacy/convenience store". Cira Green, the one-acre elevated park above the parking garage that's pinched between FMC and Evo, is also under construction and will be a major draw to Cira Centre South.

AKA's first location in Philadelphia is in Rittenhouse Square at 135 S. 18th St. It features 78 studio, one- and two-bedroom luxury extended stay units, each with full kitchens.
