Goldenberg Group is moving forward with "Fergie Tower," a 26-story mixed-use apartment building that will consist of 300 apartments and retail space at the ground level. Owner U3 Ventures sold 1213-1219 Walnut Street for $8.2 million after a lengthy process that was initially met with resistance by bar owner Fergie himself — original plans were for a behemoth of a wrap-around 30-story tower that would have included a hotel, apartments, restaurants, and retail space. Eventually a zoning overlay was placed on the block and the project was vastly scaled down to enable the sale to move forward. [Philaphilia; Biz Journals] - Megan Ritchie Jooste
