ICON, a landmark art deco building at 1616 Walnut will move its new residents in starting on April 1st. Most recently used as an office building, its new use as a luxury residential building will take full advantage of historic design elements and its enviable location. Here's a sneak preview of what's inside.
Though the lobby is full of original historic details (the front window, light fixtures, elevator caps, and aluminum elements are all original), the apartments offer contemporary amenities and design features, while still paying homage to the building's art deco style.
Residents will also have access to a roof deck (which ICON reps are calling the Sky Lounge,) with gas grills, an herb wall, and outdoor heaters. Residents will also have access to a 24 hour concierge, an impressive fitness center, an in-house dog washing station, an in-house bike repair shop, and a cold storage room for grocery deliveries.
Though ICON's previously buzzed-about health features (such as vitamin c infused showers and energizing lights) are only available in some of the units, the building will also have trainer-led group fitness classes available to all residents, and a nutritionist available for one-on-one consultations. It's possible that healthy living features will become standard in new apartment buildings from here on out, following the example of of ICON and Paseo Verde.
