The fate of the Boyd Theatre is now sealed: though its owner, Live Nation received a hardship exemption from the Philadelphia Historic Commision that would allow the total demolition of the theater, the Friends of the Boyd and the Preservation Alliance will not appeal the decision. Instead, they've signed an easement with Live Nation that stipulates that architectural elements not used on site will be donated to parties chosen by Friends of the Boyd and the Preservation Alliance, and that the facade of the theater will be restored.
