Dilworth Park, Center City District's re-imagining of the once cold, stone clad multi-level plaza at City Hall into an open, accessible green space, looks set to open in early September. We had heard that the park could open as early as September 4th, with yet-to-be-announced events planned for September 5th and 6th as well. "We'll be releasing information imminently," said Linda Harris, Center City District's Director of Communications when reached by email. Led by teams at KieranTimberlake, Urban Engineers and OLIN, the park will be completely transformed and feature an indoor/outdoor cafe, a programmable fountain that creates a reflective scrim of water, a tree-lined lawn for events and leisure and Pulse, an interactive public art installation from Janet Echelman that uses dry mist to map underground trains in real-time. While Center City District's website says it will open in "September 2014," a tweet from HughE Dillon may have just shed some light on some specifics.

According to the tweet, StylePOP, a weekly fashion pop-up market from The Philadelphia Designer Market, will be open for business at Dilworth Park on September 11th.

While we haven't been able to nail down the date of September 4th, it seems as the like the plaza will most certainly be open during the second week of September for the pop-up. So get ready, people. It looks like you'll soon be able to enjoy Dilworth Park in the near future.
