High Powered Law Firm Files Suit Against Eric Blumenfeld

Renderings via EB Realty Management Corp.

A suit filed in the Court of Common Pleas states Developer Eric Blumenfeld allegedly owes the law firm of Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young LLP $737,171.56 in unpaid attorney fees for work they claim they did for Blumenfeld's company, EB Realty Management Corp. According to a report from PhillyMag's Property, that work includes the completed projects at Abbott's Square and Stephen Starr's Stutz Building, the ongoing conversions at the Divine Lorraine and Metropolitan Opera House, Blumenfeld's plans at the Sheet Metal Worker's Site near Washington Avenue Pier in Pennsport and also Thaddeus Stevens School, which they plan to convert into lofts. Why the wonky number of $737,171.56? Apparently, the original number was higher. Attorney William Sasso — not to be confused with Vine sensation, Will Sasso — demanded Blumenfeld pay some of the fees upfront, which he did, to the tune of $50,000 in November of 2013.

It's uncertain if the filing puts any of these major projects in jeopardy. Blumenfeld doesn't seem too worried about the whole thing saying, "I think the whole matter will probably be resolved in the next day or two. We're in conversations and I think this will probably not be on the radar for long." So, there you go.
