Girard-ians of the Galaxy

Orphans Court Judge Joseph D. O'Keefe handed down a verdict yesterday that stated Girard College, a 43-acre boarding school for orphaned children in North Philly, was to stay a boarding and high school. The Board of Trustees for Girard College had sought to change the will of founder Stephen Girard in order to put the school on better financial ground. It says it cannot sustain the financial strain and funds could be "depleted within 25 years and the school forced to close." [The Inquirer, Photo: PhillyChitChat]
