Google Maps made an interesting move recently when it decided to remove the label of 'TempleTown' from the area west of Broad Street. Named the Cecil B. Moore Community after the famed lawyer, councilman and civil rights activist, residents of the area are relieved telling Newsworks, "For the community, it's almost like the developers want to come in and erase the history that's here." Columbia Avenue, the main east/west arterial street traversing Front Street to 33rd Street, was renamed Cecil B. Moore Avenue in 1987 in his honor. [Newsworks, Photo: Temple University Libraries]
