City Councilman David Oh is pushing for an agreement between TIS Inc. and SEPTA for the South Korean company to bring glass screens to subway platforms in Philly at its own cost, in exchange for proceeds from advertising on digital monitors on the screens. The glass screens would act as dividers between riders waiting on the platform and subway cars – only opening when the train has arrived at the station - and would ostensibly improve the safety of SEPTA passengers. But it would necessitate "automation to ensure the train cars lineup with the exact location of the doors on the platform." [Metro]
