East Market Development Lands First Major Retail Tenant

New, 3 comments

MOM's Organic Market has committed to lease 16,000 square feet at 34 S. 11th Street, aka East Market. MOM's Organic Market is a chain of 12 family-owned and operated organic grocery stores in the Washington/Baltimore area, and was recently voted Best Grocery Store by Philly Magazine for their Bryn Mawr location (opened in February 2014).
MOM's founder Scott Nash "can't wait to meet the East Market crowd." He continues: "We are excited to open MOM's in downtown Philadelphia – a city with incredible energy and community. We believe that the more MOM's stores there are, the better off the world will be...we know of no other retail chain that is as environmentally responsible as we are. We have one Purpose — to protect and restore the environment. Through our actions and leading by example, the more stores we have, the more we can accomplish our Purpose."

The store will feature free electric car chargers, bulk foods, local and organic meats, sustainable seafood, gluten-free foods and Naked Lunch, an all-organic vegetarian eatery.

What a way to ring in 2015, with viable signs of life now emanating from the East Market redevelopment project. The first phase of the project, encompassing 34 S. 11th Street and additional buildings along Market Street, will open in Spring 2016 and include 160,000 square feet of office space, 322 modern residential units and 130,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
