About 50 years ago, the Jewish community living in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of Philly left for places such as Oxford Circle, Overbrook Park, and West Oak Lane-Mt. Airy, leaving behind their houses of worship. Hidden City has assembled an affecting photo essay of some of the former synagogues in the neighborhood. "Alterations have been made..as the Christian congregations that now worship inside these structures have carefully adapted them to their own beliefs. Though, in a few striking instances, the presence of the previous tenants still remain." [Hidden City]
