Watch Philly's Market Street Bridge Become Prettified

If Market Street Bridge looks a little different to you, then thank you for noticing. University City District, Center City District, and the Schuylkill Development Corporation recently partnered up to bridge the gap between University City and Center City by giving the gateway a makeover. The bridge is now lined with planters, trees, benches, and pergolas at the entry points of the bridge. Groundswell Design Group, the landscape architecture firm hired for the redesign and is the same team behind the Spruce Street Harbor Park and Morgan's Pier, tells the Philadelphia Free Press that the additions not only enhance the previously drab infrastructure, but also help alleviate the traffic noise. Appreciate the aesthetics while you can: The Philadelphia Business Journal reports that it will be taken down after next year's Democratic National Convention so that the bridge can be redecked.
