This chocolate factory finally has a bittersweet ending: A group of buyers under the name 2101 Washington Avenue Associates has purchased the Frankford Chocolate Factory in Graduate Hospital for a $8 million, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal. The future of the former chocolate bunny-making factory has been up in the air since 2007 when Tran Dinh Truong bought the property for $5.5 million.
Truong had planned to turn the 240,682-square-foot site into a Vietnamese-themed development, but those plans were derailed when he died in 2012 without a will. One of the current sellers is involved in Truong's estate. What's still uncertain is whether the developers will demolish the property or convert it into a mixed-use complex. One of the buyers, Anthony Nguyen, confirmed the purchase to the Inquirer but declined to offer any more details.
