Checking in on the Massive CHOP Expansion Project

A quick jaunt across the Schuylkill River earlier this week was a great excuse to check in on the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) expansion project. The massive Schuylkill Avenue development at 700 Schuylkill Ave. encompasses 8.4 acres of land across the hospital's main campus in University City and will include four constructionphases. It's currently in phase 1, which involves the building of the 23-story office tower that will be used for clinical research and administrative programs.

Here's what the site looked like as of July 2015.

And here's where it stands as of this week.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in May 2017.
