The $450 million proposed Live! Hotel & Casino in South Philly has cleared its final hurdle. On Thursday the Philadelphia City Council unanimously voted to approve zoning for the casino and hotel complex, which will be located near the stadiums on the 900 Packer Avenue. The casino resort, which has been described as "Las-Vegas style," will feature 2,000 slot machines, 125-plus table games, a spa and conference center, valet parking, restaurants, and live entertainment venues. The parking garage will house about 2,600 spaces. In addition, the existing Holiday Inn will be renovated into a luxury hotel with 200-plus rooms, according to 6ABC.
As part of the community benefits agreement, the development is expected to contribute $15 million over the first 20 years to enhance the area's neighborhoods with investment projects like parks, recreation facilities, schools, and traffic and security improvements. In addition, it will create 3,000 construction jobs, and 2,000 permanent jobs.
