Instagram feeds all over the Greater Philadelphia Area blew up yesterday with images of the burned-out building at 52nd and Locust, which is now a veritable ice palace. The Locust Medical Center Building is now sheathed in layer after layer of thick ice after a fire tore through the building in the early hours of Monday morning (fortunately, no one was injured). Fire crews toiled in high winds and extremely low temperatures to battle the fire, and because of freezing temperatures, the water quickly transformed into hauntingly beautiful ice formations on and around the building. Now the West Philly Local reports that streets around it have been closed dues to fears that the building may collapse.
Update: As of the morning of February 18, the building is to be demolished as soon as possible.
