How Many Architects Does it Take to Build a Haverford Estate?

Photos via Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach

It's like that lightbulb joke. Three architects had their hand in designing this sprawling 4 bedroom, 5.5 bathroom estate overlooking the first fairway of Merion Golf Club's West Course. On the market for $1.75 million, the residence was originally designed by architect Walter Durham as part of the Henry Breyer estate. Expanded with additions by Frank Kawasaki and John Milner, the interior features an octagonal shaped kitchen, a living room with a beamed cathedral ceiling, wood-burning fireplace, view of the fairway, and reclaimed stone & beams from an 18th century barn. A loggia gallery connects several of the living areas, and the home includes two master retreats, and heated outbuilding. Where you can stash those longhorn light fixtures until the owners come back and visit at some point to see what you've done with the place.
