New and Expanded: 4400 Block of Chestnut and the Mosque

The Spruce Hill Community Association zoning committee got a sneak peek of the residential complex that would rework the 4400 block of Chestnut Street.

Scott and Guys Orens, owners of Orens Brothers Real Estate, presented a project for a five-story, 150-unit on the north side of the the 4400 block of Chestnut. The site would also include 50 parking spaces.

Their plan, while still in the early planning stages, is already underway. They have purchased many of the properties required to build the complex. Public discussions have nut yet begun on building design, materials, and facade (but feel free to start that here).

They do believe that there is a market for young professionals to move in, rather than just students.

What else has been proposed? An addition of classroom and meeting space to the small mosque on S. 43rd Street, near Ludlow. The Baitul Mukarram Masjid currently stands in a green three-story home.
