Since its groundbreaking, the rumor mill has inexhaustibly churned out speculations regarding who scored the beaucoup prize at 500 Walnut: its $17.6 million penthouse. Was it Beyoncé and Jay Z? Or, perhaps, as one of you suggested, perhaps it's Philip Rinaldi, soon-to-be the richest homeless person in the city when his residence at the Four Seasons is shuttered?
According to the Wall Street Journal, Tom Scannapieco, the project's developer, said he doesn't know where the rumor—which he said is untrue—came from. "We never even had a conversation with" the stars, he said. But this super real: the penthouse, which is still available, will be will be the most expensive residential unit ever to sell in Philadelphia, if it sells at asking. Current plans for the absolutely bonkers duplex (although Scannapieco confirms that the layout could be customizable) includes four bedrooms, four full baths and three half baths, and a two-story foyer that will feature floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views of the Delaware. Then there's the 2,500 square-foot private rooftop terrace.
