As the temperatures rise in Philly, so do the numbers of open houses and moving days and people move to new homes. But the regular activity of a shelter swap by people is often quite a stalled quest for animals up for adoption, with more of them losing the homes they once had. More people abandon their pets during the summer months than cooler times, as reported by Philly.com.
Adoption fees are often waived, but the 28,000 animals a year that the Animal Care and Control Team (ACCT), including reptiles, birds, and wildlife, are often overwhelming.
Consider taking--and keeping--one of these hopeful animals in your home. They'll like most any decor that you have.
