Papal Park Campground Is Scrapped Due to Lack of Interest

Sorry, Papal Pilgrims. If you were hoping to stay at the so-called Francis Fields and pay $199 per person for the pleasure of catching a glimpse of our current Pope, then you're out o' luck.

The Fairmount Park, one of the largest urban green spaces in the country, is certainly disappointed. Once set to get ready to host of 16,000 people, there will now be no papal party. Plans have been canceled due to lack of interest in Pope Francis' arrival on September 26. Of a total 11,200 downtown rooms, about 3,000 are still open.

City officials are still planning to allow camping in the park, though.
